Setting a new benchmark in clutter breaking online content from India, Y- Films has clocked up a new achievement in it’s first year of expansion. This young, creative hot shop has won the Best Web Series of 2016 award, beating serious competition a the prestigious 16th Indian Television Academy Awards for the alternate take on Indian weddings, Bang Baaja Baaraat. This win adds to a list of creative wins for Y- Films in this year.
Bang Baaja Baraat was also nominated for Best Director - Comedy for Anand Tiwari and Best Serial - Comedy, in the same race as leading GEC shows like Taarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chashma and Bhabhiji Ghar Pe Hai, household names in India. Speaking on this win, Ashish Patil, Head of Y-Films said, “In a world of saas, bahus, saanps and makkhis… we’re super stoked to not just be recognized as the best web series on the web but also be nominated alongside the biggies of TV! Our reaction when we first heard was straight out of a soap of 3 jump reactions… It’s a small step for Y-Films but a giant leap for original digital content. And the best is yet to come. The impact that Y-Films has made at ITA adds to an eclectic list of awards and recognitions that the company has notched up this year - three Content Marketing Summit Awards, eleven Emvies, One Webby Award and the one of it’s kind win of the Cannes Lions Grand Prix for The 6 Pack Band. In a very short time span, Y-Films has competed with and won ahead of leading Indian content creation firms and digital production houses. Each of these recognitions is a marker for the noticeable dent that concepts from Y-Films have successfully made in the Indian digital universe.
