Viewers vote song best of the year in year end NDTV Poll
Chak De India, Yash Raj Films’ critically and commercially acclaimed blockbuster, was an inspirational tale of a hockey team and their coach who overcome impossible odds to reach the top of the world.
The title song touched a chord with millions of movie goers and became a widely used chant even at real life sporting events. Now, there is official recognition of just how much Indians have taken to the anthem. In the annual year end poll conducted by NDTV, “Chak De India” was proclaimed the song of the year.
It was a surprising honour for the movie talked about much more for its screenplay, direction and acting rather than for the songs. However, it underscored just how much the title song was integral to ethos of the movie and just how much people had taken it to their hearts.
The award was handed out in a glittering ceremony and was received by Sanjeev Kohli, CEO & Director, Yash Raj Films, Shimit Amin, director of Chak De India and Salim Merchant, music director of Chak De India.
