Yash Chopra was the perfect Ambassador for India’s Entertainment Industry at the 56th Berlin International Film Festival. Arriving at Berlin’s Tegel airport, he was greeted by the Festival Director Dieter Kosslick.
The first Indian to be representing the Indian Film Industry in a very long time, Yash Chopra, as part of the international jury, said in the press conference that he
“looked forward to seeing great films from all over the world, and working with people from International cinema, and learning from the films” adding to this he said,
“that it was an honour to be at this prestigious platform”.
On a tight schedule (19 films to see and finally select the winning film) the International Jury was introduced to each other on 8th February to get a head start on their gruelling 10 day movie marathon.
Press conferences, interviews, movies, photo sessions – and this is just the jury’s duty, it’s all happening in Berlin.
Also present at the 56th Berlinale are major Hollywood stars including George Clooney. The Chairperson of the jury is the well known actress Charlotte Rampling.
Yash Chopra addressed a distinguished gathering on 13th February which included the entire German media, who were eager to know about his life and the films made by him.
Yash Chopra presented the
Silver Bear award Grand Jury prizeof the 56th International Berlin Film Festival during the closing ceremony of the event. This award was jointly won by Danish filmmaker Pernille Fischer Christensen and Iranian director Jafar Panahi.
