Yash Chopra was honoured with the prestigious 2004 CineAsia "Lifetime Achievement Award" at the annual convention in Bangkok, Thailand. This award was presented to him at a glittering award ceremony organized at the Sofitel Central Plaza Hotel on December 9th. What made this proud moment more special was that he was the first Indian to be honoured at CineAsia Awards.

"Yash is undoubtedly India's most influential film maker. As both a director and a producer, Yash encompasses a strong combination of creativity and administrative genius," stated Mitch Neuhauser, co- managing director of CineAsia. "It is an honor to pay tribute to such a legendary figure and indisputable leader in the Indian Film Industry."

On receiving his CineAsia Lifetime Achievement Award, Yash Chopra said, "This is an honour for India. I understand that CineAsia is honouring an Indian for the first time. This should make all Indians proud. I am also happy that the contribution of Indian Cinema to the global entertainment industry is getting its due recognition."

CineAsia, in its 10th year, is Asia's only convention and tradeshow on cinema, theatre and multiplex industry, organised by VNU Expositions. This convention has been created to meet the needs of theatre and concession equipment manufacturers, distributors and theatre owners from the fastest growing cinema marketplaces in the world and to also recognize outstanding achievements of some of the motion picture industry's most celebrated and deserving individuals and organizations.
