Padma Bhushan Award For Yash Chopra

Yash Chopra was selected as one of the eminent Indians selected for the coveted Padma Bhushan Award this year, one of the country's highest civilian honours. The names of the recipients of the Padma awards were announced on 25 January 2005, on the eve of the nation's 56th Republic Day celebrations. The Honourable President of India will soon felicitate all the Padma award winners. 

The Padma Bhushan was originally established in January 1954, and is awarded to recognize distinguished service of a high order to the nation, in any field. This year, Yash Chopra was selected for his immense contribution to the film industry. Yash Chopra had been earlier conferred with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2001, the topmost and the highest honour given in the Indian film industry. (Click here for details) 

Yash Chopra, on the occasion of being selected for the Padma Bhushan Award this year said, "It's always great to be honoured. I have received various awards but recognition from the Government always has a special feeling. They awarded me the 'Dadasaheb Phalke Award' for 2001 and now the 'Padma Bhushan'. I am delighted". 

Mr. Yash Chopra was felicitated with the Padma Bhushan Award by the Honourable President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in a glittering ceremony held at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi on 28th March 2005.
