The Consulate General of Switzerland in Mumbai announced the first Swiss Filmfare Award, which was presented to Mr. Yash Chopra at the glittering 47th Annual Filmfare Awards 2001 function held on 16th February 2002, in Mumbai. This Award symbolises the recognition and great respect for Mr. Yash Chopra's pioneering efforts in bringing Switzerland to Bollywood, by choosing the beautiful Swiss landscapes as a location for most of his films for almost 20 years and for also encouraging many other Indian film makers to follow suit. Switzerland through this award acknowledged their gratitude to Mr. Yash Chopra and the Indian Film Industry for promoting the natural beauty of this alpine country on such a magnificent scale.
