Mr. Yash Chopra has been appointed as the
Chairman of the Entertainment Committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) - the Apex Business Organisation of India. This was announced at "FRAMES 2002" - the FICCI annual Global Convention on the Business of Entertainment held on 15th & 16th March 2002, in Mumbai. The FICCI Entertainment Committee set up two years back has made significant progress in giving a shape and vision to the Entertainment Industry of India. The committee has successfully lobbied for several concessions for the Entertainment sector since its inception and has become the most important voice of the entire entertainment industry.
Mr. R. S. Lodha, President, FICCI in his welcome address speech of "FRAMES 2002" said, "Mr. Yash Chopra, or Yashji as he is fondly called by all of us is an icon of the Indian entertainment industry and is revered by all. His leadership of the FICCI Entertainment Committee comes at a crucial juncture and we hope to benefit a lot from his valuable experience and guidance".

It is the first time that the FICCI Entertainment Committee is headed by a personality from the entertainment business - a sure sign that the entertainment industry is being actually accepted as an industry.
