The Indian Edition Of The Book On Yash Chopra Released

'Yash Chopra: Fifty years in India cinema' - the Indian edition of Dr. Rachel Dwyer's book on Mr.Yash Chopra was released by Roli Books in New Delhi on 30th July 2002. Ms. Shushma Swaraj - Honourable Minister for Information & Broadcasting released the book at a glittering function hosted by Roli Books & The Ashok Hotel, which was attended by dignitaries from various walks of life including artists like Satish Gujral, Manjit Bawa and personalities like T.Subbarami Reddy, Rajiv Shukla, Mark Tully, Maharaja of Udaipur, Vivek Burman (Dabur India) along with a host of other luminaries from the Delhi society. 

Mumbai also saw a star-studded function hosted on Friendship Day, 4th August 2002, where friends from all walks of life gathered together to reminisce Mr.Yash Chopra's glorious 5-decade career in films, which was aptly captured by a special 20-minute film on Yash Chopra played at the function. Hosted by Roli Books and The Grand Maratha Sheraton, the book was formally released by thespian Dilip Kumar with superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan also gracing the evening. It was a rare moment when three generation of superstars (Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan) shared the stage with the director who was associated with all of them, at various stages of his career. 

Other friends from the film fraternity who attended this function included the legendary B.R.Chopra, Yash Johar, the Barjatya's (of Rajshri Films), Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukherjee, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Jagjit & Chitra Singh, Amrish Puri, Jatin-Lalit, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Devan Verma, Nitin Mukesh, Bharat Shah, Govind Nihalani, Ramesh & Kiran Sippy, Jimmy Shergill, Sanjana, Jugal Hansraj, Rahul Khanna, Adnan Sami among a host of others. Other personalities like Amit Khanna, Naresh Goyal (Jet Airways), Manmohan Shetty (Adlabs), Ashok Hinduja, Smita Thackerey and architect I.M.Kadri also graced the occasion. 

This book showcases the glorious 5-decade career of Yash Chopra with interesting insights & anecdotes from all his friends who were a part of his film making journey and has a foreword by Lata Mangeshkar.
